Doncaster Speakers – Meeting Review 12th Oct 2020

Sajid got the meeting started as Sergeant at Arms with a ring of his bell, anyone who was asleep at that point were no longer!

Stephanie as Toastmaster for the evening welcomed everyone and talked about her theme for the meeting – Stand Up (and take action) Val with the word of the day as Grammarian backed this up with the word being Confront.

We had 3 speakers, Bal with “Insights & Foresights”, Maria with “Learning To Lead” and Lianna “Review Of Zoom Online Meetings”.

All good speeches but Lianna came out on top with the best speaker ribbon.

In the Table Topics section Lianna again grabbed the ribbon.

To complement the speeches there was some great evaluations and General Evaluator for the night Andy won the ribbon for best evaluator.

Doncaster Speakers Meeting Review – 24th Aug 2020

Another Monday, Another Zoom, Another Toastmasters meeting.

All the days tend to blend in to one at the moment and Andy our Toastmaster for the night posed the question “Is weird the new normal?”.

Bal the Grammarian followed the theme by having the word of the day as Flummox, meaning confused, which these weird time have left most people.

There was only one speaker in Donald but he was well worth his winners ribbon giving his ice breaker on ‘Get Ready To Rumble’ and his life in promotions.

Table topics also followed the theme by showing a different weird picture to each participant who then had to try and talk for 2 minutes explaining what they saw. For example one picture had a Giraffe on a tight rope!

The table topics winner was one of our guest attendees Mary.

All the Evaluators tried to makes sense of all the weird stuff going off and the one who came out top in the end of meeting poll was Andrew.

This was the start of the new Toastmaster year which led to the meeting being started by our new President Elizabeth.

A great night was had with an introduction to the new committee, speeches, evaluations in the first half followed by table topics in the second half.

Club Member Comes 2nd In Britain & Ireland Final

Congratulations to Doncaster Speakers club member Jon Carvell who came second in the District 71 Table Topics competition.

The District 71 finals puts the best of all the Toastmaster clubs in Britain and Ireland together. Before this there there was club level, area level and semi final level to negotiate.

Also well done to Jordan at Sheffield speakers who made it through to the finals of the Evaluation competition but unfortunately did not finish in the top three.
