Is it something “NEW” to you you or do you just want to enhance skills you believe you already have naturally? Our meetings are designed to be fun, in a safe and friendly environment, where we try to make our content educational and informative. We never TELL you how to speak publicly, but rather we help you to develop your own style through practice, along structured pathways, with positive feedback and support along the way.

We are Doncaster Speakers ToastMasters Club… the local branch of Toastmasters International – (TMI). We are a Non-Profit International Educational Organisation (NGO) whose membership exceeds 280,000 in more than 14,700 clubs in 144 countries. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people from diverse backgrounds become more confident speakers, communicators, and world leaders.

Where are we located? We hold our regular meetings on Zoom or in person at the Regent Hotel in Doncaster Find Us on Google Maps: (The Regent Hotel, Regent Square, Doncaster DN1 2DS)

Do I have to speak on the first night? No, you can come along and just watch or if you choose, you can take part in the Table Topics (impromptu speaking) part of the evening. It is entirely up to you, we never put pressure on anyone, we simply provide a safe and nurturing environment to encourage you to find your own voice.

What does it Cost? Its FREE to come along as a VIP guest for your first few visits, then there is a £40.00 joining fee and a monthly membership of just £10 per month.

I am not a good speaker, can I still come? Of course. Our members have ranged from professional paid speakers, through to absolute novices, just rehearsing a best man’s speech. We do not TELL you how to speak or develop, but we create an environment that supports you on your journey, in a fun and friendly way, this will result in you finding your own path to achieve your public speaking goals.

What do you do in a meeting? Toastmasters has many benefits and will help you learn and improve your public speaking and leadership skills. We help you to learn the very basics of Public Speaking, translating that to your Leadership Style, giving you feedback and helping you to understand the need for Evaluation Skills as part of your development, we encourage you to “have a go” at speaking on any topic off the top of your head Impromptu Speaking based on the core values of who we are.

Normally we have several prepared speeches (5-7 mins) delivered by experienced and well practiced speakers, then we have a part of the meeting where we encourage Impromptu Speaking where anyone can have a go and then we give feedback and constructive evaluations (all positive but with recommends) . There are established roles that are unique to Toastmasters, in the way we deliver our meetings, designed to help each member enhance your skills in listening and feeding back to others. All of this happens naturally at your own pace and based on your personal goals, we all learn from each other, have fun and help each other.

Dress code? Just come smart casual or wear a suit if that makes you comfortable.

How Frequent and How Long Are Your Meetings? We generally meet twice per month on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month (Except for Bank Holidays) Then we adjust our calendar to fit in the meeting on the following Monday. We are a Hybrid Toastmasters Club so you can join us on Zoom, Google Meet or LiveStream from 18:45 for prompt 19:00 start – depending on the number of speakers on the night, we finish about 21.15 with socializing after until 21.45.

So why not come along and give it a go? You can just pop along to any meeting as our VIP guest (except during club competitions and the Christmas Party) these are MEMBERS ONLY events. If you can let us know you’re coming in advance, we can accommodate you with an experienced member who can explain all of the little things that make Toastmasters and our local Doncaster Speakers TM Club great.
