Doncaster Speakers Club Night Review – 22nd Feb 2021

Andrew the Sergeant at Arms brought the meeting to order and went through the housekeeping information before passing on to the next role, the Toastmaster for the evening. Andy welcomed the visitors to the meeting, explained what Toastmaster is all about and then introduced the people who were carrying out roles during the evening

Bridget was Timekeeper with her newly made digital backgrounds for the green, yellow and red cards, Arthur was Grammarian with his word of the day ‘Plethora’, Ah Counter was Thashini.

Next up was the first speaker, Lianna who’s speech was entitled ‘Coaching Evaluation’. Lianna was evaluated by Val. Elizabeth was next with her speech ‘The Great Escape’ which was evaluated by Steve.

The winner of the best speaker award for the evening was……… Elizabeth

Andy gave a speech in the education slot about how to do the perfect evaluation and give some tips for those looking to enter this year’s competition.

Table Topics were next, this is the impromptu speaking bit where people are asked a question and have to answer straight away for up to 2 minutes. This session’s Table Topics Master was Stephanie and her questions would rather have A or B. For example would you rather have a bus/train always on time or your food delivered on time?

A shout out to Debs who spoke for the first time and did very well with her Table Topic as she came out joint top with Andrew.

The evening was rounded up with the evaluations with Thashini coming out on top.

Our next meeting is the International & Evaluation contest on Monday 8th March 2021 at 7:00pm.

If you would like to attend and see it all for yourself then email to register a place and to receive the Zoom link for the meeting.
