Doncaster Speakers Club Night Review – 24 May 2021

A bumper evening to celebrate Doncaster Speakers 10th anniversary of being a chartered Toastmasters club (party to come later when lockdown ends). Speeches, table topics and a couple of old faces from the original meeting 10 years ago.

Elizabeth the Sergeant at Arms brought the meeting to order and went through the housekeeping information before taking on the next role, that of Toastmaster. Elizabeth explained what Toastmaster is all about and then introduced the people who were carrying out roles during the evening

Thashini was Timekeeper with her green, yellow and red cards, Bridget was Grammarian with her word of the day ‘Spruik‘, Ah Counter was Steve.

Next up was the first speaker, Stephanie with a speech entitled ‘The other side of the mountain’. Stephanie was evaluated by Jean. Second speaker was Maria with a speech entitled ‘Water water everywhere’. Maria was evaluated by Val. The third speaker was Andrew with a speech entitled ‘Doncaster Inspires Amazing Speakers’. Andrew was evaluated by Michael (one of the members who formed Doncaster Speakers 10 years ago).

The winner of the best speaker award for the evening was……… Andrew.

Table Topics were next, this is the impromptu speaking bit where people are asked a question and have to answer straight away for up to 2 minutes. This session’s Table Topics Master was Andy and his questions around the past, present and future.

Well done to first time speakers Macaulay and Stella.

Double well done to Stella as she was the person who gained the best Table Topics ribbon.

The evening was rounded up with the evaluations with Michael coming out on top.

Our next meeting is via Zoom on Monday 14th June 2021 at 7:00pm.
